Welcome to the Phoinix Platform for Studying Ancient Amuletic Jewellery (phoinixplatform.org), a research initiative that aims to compile the complete corpus of ancient and post-antique amuletic jewellery preserved in museums and private collections worldwide. 

The Phoinix Platform is owned by the Palladion Association for the Study of Classical Antiquities and is developed and maintained in international cooperation (see our partners HERE).

1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Site, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions, together with our Privacy Policy. If you disagree, you must not use the Site.

2. License of Use
Subject to these Terms, the Palladion Association grants you a free, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Phoinix Platform.
• The contents of the Site reflect ongoing research and may change without notice.
• The Palladion Association and its partners may modify, update, or remove content at any time.
• Use of the information provided on the Site is at your own risk and responsibility.

3. Service Availability and Limitation of Liability
We strive to maintain reliable access, but the Site may occasionally be unavailable due to maintenance or unforeseen circumstances.
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
• The Palladion Association is not liable for damages arising from your use of the Site, including data loss, unauthorized access, or third-party actions. 
• The Association has not reviewed all external sites linked to the database and is not responsible for their content. Accessing external links is at your own risk.

• We make no representations or guarantees regarding the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of the information provided.
• Research data may be incomplete, provisional, or subject to revision.

5. Intellectual Property
• All content on this Site, including its design, structure, and software, is protected by intellectual property laws.
• You acquire no ownership rights to the Site or its content.

• The Palladion Association does not hold copyright for images of objects included in the database. For permissions, please contact the respective copyright holders indicated in the relevant notices.

6. User Accounts
When registering for a user account, you agree that:
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
• You will provide accurate, current, and complete registration information.
• You are responsible for all activities under your account.
• You will not use the Site for unlawful purposes, violate intellectual property or privacy rights, or attempt to disrupt, hack, or interfere with its functionality.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts at our discretion if these Terms are violated.

7. User Content and Data
• You retain ownership of any content you enter into the Site (“User Content”).
• By entering User Content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide license to store and display it solely to provide Site functionality.
• You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to share your content.
• While we apply reasonable security measures, we are not liable for any loss, corruption, or unauthorised disclosure of User Content.

8. Technical Support
This license does not entitle you to official technical support, updates, or enhancements. Any support offered voluntarily by the Palladion Association or the Phoinix Platform team is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind.

9. Privacy
Phoinix Platform respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. By using the website and accepting the terms and conditions of this license agreement, you grant permission to Palladion Association to process your data in accordance with the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) (EU) 2016/679).

• User Content: data you enter in your account.
• Optional Information: details you provide when contacting us or submitting feedback.

10. Disputes 

In case of disputes relating to these Terms, the parties will first attempt an amicable settlement. If no settlement is reached, disputes shall be brought before the courts of Budapest, Hungary, and governed by Hungarian law, excluding conflict-of-law provisions.

11. Changes to Terms and Privacy
We may revise these Terms and the Privacy Policy periodically. Updates will be posted on this page, with the “Last Updated” date revised accordingly. Continued use of the Site after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Site if you breach these Terms or use the Site inappropriately. Upon termination, your account data may be deleted in line with our retention policies.
