Brown sard gem; transverse oval, slightly convex. (Shape 6). Set in a gold mount.
"Castellani Collection (lot 996): 1884".
Side A: Mithras, turned left, dressed in a tunic, a mantle and wearing a Phrygian cap, grabbing the bull's horn with one hand and stabbing it with a knife with the other. From his left, a dog approaches the wound of the bull. Below: a snake. Above: busts of Sol and Luna.
Side B: Undecorated.
