Provenience:

Octagonal nicolo gem (banded onyx), obverse flat, lower right corner chipped. 

Found at the site of the chapel on the Hill of St. Louis in Carthage, Tunisia, as part of the Carthage-treasure, see Baratte 2002, 7–9.

Side A: Female figure (Isis Pelagia) standing in three-quarter view on a ship. She wears a long dress, and is crowned with the sun disk between cow's  horns. She holds the sails with both her hands, her body is turned towards the prow of the ship, while her head is turned back towards the stern on the right. Behind the figure: steering oar. Latin inscription around the edge in mirror writing, starting above the oar: naviga felix – 'Sail with fortune'.
